Recently I’ve had a few instances where I’ve parked at a fast food place for lunch, either alone or while I’m with my daughter, and when I go to exit my vehicle there is someone standing right by my door insisting that I buy them lunch. They are usually much bigger than I am, speak in a demanding tone, and try and take advantage of me however they can. If I decide I don’t want any trouble and agree, they usually will end ordering the most expensive food on the menu, (when i told them I couldn’t pay for that, the guy offered to give me a looney). The latest time I just said no, and The man grabbed my car door to try to keep me from closing it. And I ended up struggling back into my car and having to drive away without eating.
I almost always ignore panhandlers, or say I don’t have cash, because I don’t. But this new aggressive style I’m not used to dealing with and it’s happened 3 times this month, various places in the city. It’s honestly very threatening and I’m just wondering the best way to deal with it without having to spend more money than I can afford on someone else, and without having to walk away from my lunch plans.
I feel stupid for asking but seriously I have felt very helpless
